I want this site to be usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or other assistive technology.
My goal
I am working toward the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, as a standard for this site. That is the target I measure against. I treat accessibility as ongoing work, not a one-time checkbox.
About this site
clintoncoheniii.com is a personal-brand, single-page site. It is built on WordPress with the Elementor page builder. The layout, colors, type, and motion were all chosen with readability in mind, and I review the site against accessibility guidelines when I make changes.
What I have done
- Every image has descriptive alternative text.
- The page uses a clear heading order and proper landmarks so assistive technology can move through it.
- Decorative graphics are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
- Text and background colors are chosen to meet AA contrast on the panels where they appear.
- Interactive elements can be reached and used with a keyboard, and they show a visible focus outline.
- Motion on the page respects your system setting to reduce motion.
Known limitations
I want to be honest about where the site is not perfect yet:
- Some of the visual motion and layout depend on JavaScript. If scripts are blocked, the page still reads as plain content, but the experience is simpler.
- A few third-party links point to other platforms, such as my Substack, my booking page, and my social profiles. I do not control the accessibility of those outside sites.
- I am one person maintaining this myself, so fixes ship as I find them rather than all at once.
If something is not working for you
If you run into a barrier on this site, or you need information from it in a different format, please email me at [email protected]. Tell me what page you were on and what happened, and I will do my best to fix it or get you the information another way.
